Pippin Brothers Seeks Oldest Air Conditioner in the Lawton/Fort Sill Community

(Lawton, OK) – Pippin Brothers is looking for the oldest air conditioner in the Lawton/Fort Sill community and will give its owner a new air conditioner free as part of an effort to highlight the potential for energy savings from new, high efficiency cooling equipment.

Pippin Brothers wants to find the oldest air conditioner and replace it with a free air conditioner to show homeowners how much energy savings is possible from an air conditioning system upgrade.

“We felt this contest was a good way to draw attention to the potential to save a lot of money by upgrading an old air conditioning system,” said Mark Pippin from Pippin Brothers. “There are some very old air conditioners around town and homeowners are wasting a lot of money and contributing a lot of greenhouse gases by way of power plant emissions from continuing to operate them. In the new stimulus package that the federal government passed, homeowners can qualify to earn a tax credit of up to $1,500 on higher efficiency equipment There has never been a better time to consider replacing you current air conditioning and heating system.”

According to Mark Pippin, any air conditioner more than 15 years old is past due for replacement. Baseline efficiency is 30% higher today than a few years ago and nearly double the baseline efficiency of the 1980s. Pippin pointed out the average life expectancy of an air conditioner is 13 years according to Appliance Magazine. As mechanical equipment ages, its performance degrades and it becomes less efficient.

Homeowners who believe they might have the oldest air conditioner in the area are encouraged to call 248-7924 to schedule an appointment to register or to drop by the Pippin Brothers booth at the Home and Garden show and fill out an entry in person. Entries will be verified for age and the winner will selected by May 8th.
